We had to leave my car there for 2 weeks until we could get the car. He towed us back to Emporia where he had to spend the night at a Best Western there until we could find a ride back to Lawrence. I got on my cell to call a tow company for Emporia, Kansas and 45 minutes later, the tow truck showed up. I got to the shoulder safely but the car was dead and I was in the middle of nowhere with my family and my dog in the hot weather.
I had to coast to the shoulder of the highway. Then all the lights came on, the engine light, the oil lights and then the car died right in the middle of me trying to get to the shoulder of the highway while cars were passing me at high speeds. I pushed the gas to try to speed up a bit but then, all of a sudden, I heard a pop sound then it sounded like something fell off. I was trying to get back in the right lane to pull over waiting for the car that was currently in the lane to get past me so that I could pull over when the car started to slow down. I started to turn back into the slow lane to pull the car over. I then started to hear a loud ticking sound coming from under the hood of the car. When I was going to pass a car, the engine hit in high gear. I was driving on the highway turnpike going south. I didn't even get 100 miles away from my hometown before the car went downhill. Everything seemed to be okay when we left the Jiffy Lube but the next day, I left for my trip out of state. Well, I don't want that," so he did the engine flush. Then the new oil that we just put in it will be dirty just like that." So I said, "Okay. He replied, "Yeah, your car needs it." He said, "I can just put the new oil in it and you can drive around the block and come back. I asked if it needed it not knowing what the process was or what an engine flush was at the time. It is just too much of a coincidence that the engine light went on immediately after my car was serviced by Jiffy Lube. I need to be compensated for this as it definitely was Jiffy Lube who did this. After the mechanic corrected the air filter, the engine service light went off immediately. It seems a coincidence that directly after Jiffy Lube changed the oil that my engine light went on. I returned to the Jiffy Lube, the manager was not in, so I spoke to employees about this and they insisted they did not do this. The mechanic charged me $99.40 (taxes included). I went to a mechanic and he said and showed me the air filter was installed upside down. He checked and said there seemed to be no problem. I returned to Jiffy Lube and spoke to the manager. After leaving, I noticed my engine light was on, saying it needed service. Im waiting to see a solution, because obviously something caused my check engine light to come on directly after recieveing an air filter replacement and oil change here.I had my oil and filter changed on June 19, 2012. I took the part to Jiffy Lube and requested a reimbursement but was told the part had no damage and to contact the dealership. I took it to the dealership and was told a piece of my air filter has been broken and the cost of fixing the damage was $500. They said if the light came on again Id have to take it to the dealership since its have to be a separate issue, and the second time leaving Jiffy Lube the light once again turned on. I was advised to come back because if the air filter isnt fit perfectly that itd kick the sensor on for the check engine light, and came back so they could readjust my air filter and turn off the light.
